Deflecto Organization for my Office too!

Hey Everyone,

I hope the holidays brought joy to all of you in one way or another. And now that Christmas is behind us, it means that the New Year is upon us. I don't know about you, but every January I seem to get myself into high gear organizing myself for the coming year. With that said, I was so excited for the package of Deflecto products I received.

The first things I will show you are these File Folders for the wall. The technical name is DocuPocket. They come with screws, but I used the Command Removable Wall Mount strips for mine. I had this unused space between my desk and my shelves and these holders fit perfectly. To add a little pizazz, I decorated the fronts... what else would you expect from this crafty girl.

Here is a close up of them on the wall. A perfect fit. Last year I had a rubbermaid tub that was stuffed and overflowing with disorganized papers... this year it will be so much better!

Another item they sent me was this file folder holder. The real name is "Document Browser." I love it for so many reasons...
  • The dividers are clear
  • The dividers tilt back rather than being straight up and down.
  • The dividers move, like tabs, allowing me to flip easily between files
  • and lastly, because its CUTE! Don't you think... this crafty girl NEEDS cute!

Here is a side view to give you an idea of how it tilts. I love it. Oh... and there is a place in the front to hold small items... maybe a pen, a pencil or some paperclips. Very handy!
Come back soon as I will be sharing a few of the other goodies they sent me as well. I am headed in the right direction for the new year!

Washi Tape and Magnetic Dispensers... It doesn't get more fun than that!

Hey Everyone,

Today I have a quick post with a video showing you how COOL our Washi Tape dispensers are. Did you know that the side comes off for quick loading of 1 or 2 rolls of washi tape? Because it is magnetized, putting the side back on is a snap (quite literally!). And... because of those same magnets, you can easily attach several dispensers together. Check it out!

To see all the fun styles of washi tape we have, visit my site and look around.

Irresistable Texture Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

This month there are 7 of us highlighting the “Irresistible Texture” technique, which focuses on using embossing folders to add that extra ooomph to your artwork.

This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Tonya's Blog, you are on the right track!

For my item, I decided to create a card with both the new Hopscotch paper pack and the Hearts Embossing Folder. Both are available in our new Seasonal Expressions idea book that just came out.

I m not sure it shows up very well in the picture, but to make those cute hearts stand out just a bit more, I rubbed some indian corn blue ink over the cardstock once I had embossed it. It made a subtle difference that helped make the hearts pop off the page a abit more.

Here is a close up where you can see the detail a bit better. I chose one of our little "M" sized stamps for my sentiment because the heart detail coordinated perfectly. A little White Shimmer Trim and some silver sequins and sparkles brought the whole look together.

And here is a picture that shows all the patterns that come in the Hopscotch paper pack. I only focused on the top two.

Now hop on over to Sheila's blog, which is also the start of the hop, to see what cuteness she came up with.

Creative Blogger Award

Today's post was made possible because of a sweet friend, amazing artist and Close To My Heart Consultant, Wendy Coffman.  Last week Wendy surprised me with the nomination for the Creative Blogger Blog Hop Tour.  What a priviledge, especially since all of these artists do outstanding artwork.  Thank you so much Wendy!

One of the things that I really love about Wendy's art is how creative she gets. On most of her artwork, I see fun, outside of the box thinking that stretches my own creative abilities and gets me trying new things. She definitely inspires me!

Here is a list of some of the recent Creative Blog Tour alumni.  Such a talented bunch of artists and just plain nice people!  By clicking on the artist's name you will be able to visit their blogs and read more about them and their creative process.

Here are the questions each Creative Blogger gets to answer:

1.  What are you currently working on?
I am so in the Christmas spirit so everything I have out is Christmas related. My most recent project was my 6 page Scrapbook kit. Here is just one of the pages I created. Each month I am created a 6 page Scrapbook kit, as well as a variety of cards with the same papers, and then usually some type of project. With the holidays right around the corner, I can't share these projects as they are going to be Christmas Gifts for some of my lovely family members.... but I can tell you they do involve our Picture My  Life kits, but are NOT scrapbook pages. :)

2.  How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I lean toward the clean and simple designs for sure. Perhaps I am a bit of a minimalist.... less can definitely be more. I like the look of streamlined designs that give the eye a place to rest. I am also known for making what I call "Fast and Furious Cards." While I love the creative process, being a mom of four boys ranging from a junior in high school to a first grader, keeps me super duper busy. When a girl needs to get a little creative time in, fast and furious, but pretty works the best!

3.  Why do I create what I do?
I love to create. Living in a house full of boys and spending most of my time in the kitchen, the car or the bleachers,  getting to sit in my little art studio doing my girly thing gives me that time I need as a mom to recharge and be ready to do it all again the next day. A girl just has to have her girl time, know what I mean? :)

4.  How does my creative process work?
I usually have a project I am working to complete for an upcoming class, so my papers and complements are usually designated. From their, I either visit pinterest for sketch inspiration or the How-To Books from Close To My Heart. Once I have that choice made, its pretty easy from there. Because I like clean and simple, there is usually only 1 bold pattern or color scheme on the card, and everything is created around that. Once the entire scrapbook page or card is finished I then decide what kind of embellishments I want to add, kind of like the "cherry on top." I never have embellishments in mind when I begin... I simply see where the project goes, and then add those last few little doo-dads to make the project sing.

Now, I would like to nominate my friend, Linda Pantalone, for the Creative Blogger Award.  She will be sharing her post next Monday, December 15th.  I know you will love visiting her blog and enjoying all of her talented creations!

Thank you for joining us on the tour!

CTMH Seasonal Expressions New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to the CTMH Seasonal Expressions new product Blog Hop!   We will be featuring Close To My Heart's newest products found in our innaugural edition of Seasonal Expressions.

If you have come here from
Priscilla Gotham's blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  This month we have 38 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this Cricut cartridge and other great CTMH products on their blogs. Be sure to hop through and get some great ideas.

Again I have choses to create with the Heartstrings Workshop on the Go Kit.
I love these stamps and the puffies are to die for... sooo cute! I also used the new Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge because I wanted to create a sentiment card. Let me show you.

I began by cutting the Heartstring B&TP at 6 3/4" using the Sentiments button on the Artfully Sent Cartridge.
Next I backed the words with Ruby Cardstock, then layered that piece onto Hollyhock Cardstock, and finally onto Lagoon Cardstock.

Both hearts were cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge, sponged and popped up off the card.
To finish it off, I used some of our new White Shimmer Trim, Silver Sequins and one of the new Puffies.

And of course, the inside needs to be cute too, so I stamped a bit inside using stamps that came with the Heartstrings Workshop on the Go Kit. Here is a picture of everything that comes in the kit, including the sheet of Puffies I used.

Now hop on over to Krista's blog to see what fun creations she has come up with!

Simply Inspired Seasonal Expressions Blog Hop

Welcome to our Simply Inspired CTMH Blog Hop! This month we are highlighting items from the brand new Seasonal Expressions.  If you have come here from Katy's Blog, you are on the right path! Isn't her artwork amazing! I always enjoy seeing what she comes up with.

Now for my creations from the Seasonal Expressions... I decided to create a card using the new Heartstrings Workshop on the Go Kit. The picture shows you all the goodies that come in the kit, which is sold at a significant savings over buying everything separately.

With this kit, you not only get the stamps, paper, embellishments and a guide, but 15 cards and envelopes as well. Woo-Hoo!

Here is what I came up with. I wanted to create my own design, rather than using one from the guide. As always, I had to incorporate some glitter paper into my design... I just can't seem to create without it. I also added some of our new silver sequins, accented with sparkles.

The hearts were cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then I sponged the edges to give them that added oomph. An easy peasy card really, once you have the design down in your head.

Here is a close up of the details.

Now hop on over to Debbi Fournier's blog to see what fun she has created with products from the new Seasonal Expressions idea book.

December Stamp of the Month Blog Hop: Cutie Pie

Welcome to our December Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

This month we will be showing you tons of fun papercrafting ideas using the December Stamp of the Month, "Cutie Pie" This set is  a blast to play with, especially if you like coloring.... and what girl doesn't enjoy a little laid back time, coloring with markers. I know I have become quite addicted to it.

If you have come here from Cat Nowak's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle of about 65 consultants. You can start here and work your way all around.
For this card I chose to work with the Brushed paper pack, just like I did for last months Stamp of the Month card. I also wanted to add some shimmer by using the Pink Glitter paper and the Adventure Paper Fundamentals pack. I chose the Hollyhock sheet from that pack.
Here is a little close up. I used 4 different marker colors in all. To create the polka dots on the cupcake I used the Colorless Blender marker after the top was colored pink and it removed the color. It is a must have item when coloring with Alcohol Markers because of its ability to erase ink.

Lastly, here is a picture of all 11 stamps that come in this set. So much creativity waiting to happen.

Now hop on over to Lilian Yeh's Blog to see what she has created with this fun set.

Christmas Countdown with Deflecto Wet Erase Signs and Chalk Markers

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a quick and simple project to share with you. I created a fun "Countdown to Christmas" sign for my boys this year using the Deflecto Wet Erase Sign and Chalk Markers I received.  This is w hat one of the Wet Erase signs looked like. It was my favorite because the black sign part comes in and out for decorating and is double sided as well.

For my project, I used the Chalk Markers to create the countdown part of the display, along with some sparkles. Then, for added pizazz, I mounted one of the 3" x 4" Picture My Life cards from the Pear and Partridge kit to one side of the wood frame. Add a little glitter and a bow and wah-lah... instant fun for the boys.

I love how fast easy this all came together and I know my boys will have fun with it.

As you can see from my sign, the chalk markers come in more than just white... so much fun!
Check out all the great products that Deflecto carries for your Holiday crafting.

These stamp sets are such a nice add on to any $50 order, and do make nice gifts as well.

My friend Nancy Reding created this card for me and she used 3 of our brand new colors: Canary, Pixie and Glacier, along with paper from the new Brushed paper pack.

It's finished off with some sparkles and doodling around the leaves and wah-lah, a quick and easy card. Thank you so much for sharing it with me Nancy!!

For today's layouts I wanted you to notice all the little details that this program allows you to add. From embellishments, to journaling to stickers and more... click click click, and save.

On this layout, I wanted you to notice how I added both a sticker and my own journaling to the 7x12 photo well. I love the look it gives my layout and only took me a few minutes to accomplish.

For the journaling, I added a text box and set the background to transparent. Wah-lah, journaling right on my photo. You should try it too. Go ahead and hop on over to my website and log into Studio J to check it out.

For my creation I chose to create a Sentiment card using Lagoon and Pear Cardstock. I accented the card with paper from both our green and blue glitter paper packs (remember how much I love this paper), and then finished it off with a little stamping using the "You're Own Kind of Wonderful" stamp set.

Now hop on over to Judy Faye Garner's Blog to see what she came up.

Large Photos are a Cinch with Studio J

Good Morning,

More Studio J inspiration to share with you today.

One of the things I really love about this program is that you can create a large focal point photo on your page that you might not normally create. I mean, a lot of times we don't take the time to have an 8x10 or 7x12 layout printed at a photo printing store. Why? Time and cost right? Well with Studio J, again, it's simply drag and drop and the program automatically fills the photo well.

Look at the layouts below and see how these large images really add some WOW to your scrapbooking.

This is one of my all time favorite layouts just because of the large photo of my sweet boy. It melts my heart EVERY time I look at it. See... Studio J rocks!

Look at These Studio J Layouts.... So Easy!

Good Morning,

I am hoping to inspire you to try the Studio J Online Scrapbooking program by sharing some more layouts I have created. This is seriously my favorite way to scrapbook to catch up on my photos. Not only is it fast and simple, it looks great too!

These layouts feature an older, retired paper pack... but guess what... its NOT retired online. Yep! Some of your favorite paper packs that are no longer available for purchase can still be used in Studio J.
